Student handbook

v. 2016:

• Arrive early and be ready and willing to participate.

• Be prepared! Come to class with a positive attitude along with all necessary dance clothes, shoes, and materials required to have a successful class.

• Give instructors, assistants, and staff your full attention and respect.

• No dance shoes outside of the studio, please.  Not only do we want to keep your dance shoes in good condition, but we also want to keep our dance floors operating as long as possible.  It’s also important to properly keep warm before and after a lesson, so please have appropriate cover ups.

• No cell phones in class.  Please place your cell phone on silent while in the studio.  If you must contact a parent, please ask your teacher for permission to step outside in-between classes.

• Keep your hands to yourself and maintain quiet while your classmates are working.  We can learn not only by doing, but by watching as well.

• If you are late, please enter the room quietly.

• If you have to leave the room during class time, please ask permission from the instructor.

• No food, gum, or drinks (other than water) inside the studio.

• The ballet barres are not for playing on; they are for dance warm ups and exercises during class only.

• Please pick up after yourself!  We want to keep the studio clean and inviting for everyone who visits.  Throw out any garbage, food, or drinks in the trash cans.

• All dancers must adhere to the dress code.  If students come to class without the proper attire or shoes, they may be asked to sit out.  This includes having your hair pulled out of your face.

• Frequent absences and/or tardies to class may affect the placement of the student and/or their ability to advance in class levels.

• Always support your fellow classmates.  No matter how helpful you might think your suggestions are, please keep your correction and directions to yourself.

• Take and apply corrections from your instructors respectfully and willingly.

• The studio is not responsible for lost, stolen and/or damaged property while on the premises.

• No horseplay!

• No inappropriate or foul language will be tolerated.

• Mutual respect is encouraged by the students, staff, teachers and parents
