CANDEE PARKER

Candee Parker graduated from Yuba City High School where she cheered on the Honkers for two years as a varsity (and “most spirited”) cheerleader.  She was awarded an Associate's Degree in Music at Yuba College and finished her education at the University of California, Davis where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dramatic Art.  While studying there, she was a member of the UC Davis award winning Dance Team, and performed in productions under the direction of Broadway Alum’s, Mindy Cooper-Grenke and English Playwright and Actor, Mark Ravenhill.

While in college, Candee also represented the Yuba-Sutter community as Miss Yuba-Sutter 2002/2003 and the California State Fair Industry as Miss California State 2004/2005.  Candee has been dancing since she was four years old with various dance studios in Sonoma, Sacramento and Sutter counties, including Foy’s Dance Studio and Jacque’s Dance Expressions of Yuba City.  She was a young member of the Phares’ Theater Ballet Company in grade school and later trained (by invitation only) for two summers with the Music Circus Summer Dance Class Series both in Sacramento.   She danced competitively in middle school and high school.

After graduating from UC Davis, Candee completed an entertainment internship at Walt Disney World, Florida.  Candee has held the jobs of choreographer, director and actor for many plays in the Yuba-Sutter community and was honored with the “Don Award” at the ninth annual Way, Way, Way Off Broadway fundraiser, which was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Yuba City and the Sutter Performing Arts Association.  In 2011, Candee was part of the first ever Dance with Our Stars event produced at Colusa Casino, benefitting the Fremont-Rideout Health Group and the American Red Cross of Northeastern California.  She and her dance partner won the “People’s Choice Award.”

Candee has received two Leading Actor Elly Award Nominations with the Sacramento Area Theater Alliance for her portrayal of Peppermint Patty in Snoopy (The Acting Company) and Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun (The Acting Company), as well as two Choreography Nominations for Brigadoon and Hairspray (Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts).  She also received an Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nomination by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for her role as the Social Worker in the U.S. premiere of The Lady in the Van (Yuba College).  Some of her other favorite roles have been Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Nancy in Oliver, Laurey in Oklahoma, Jennifer in Paint Your Wagon, Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes and most recently, Agnes in I Do! I Do!  She was flattered to be asked to sing as a soloist with the Yuba-Sutter Symphony for five separate years at their annual, Spring Pops Concert and she’s been known to sing the National Anthem a time or two for such places as the Marysville Gold Sox, UC Davis Basketball, the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 582 car show, county fairs and the California State Fair.

Candee taught jazz, tap, and musical theatre at the Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts for eight years.  She has worked at Ballet Studio B, City Dance Center, Charisma School of Dance, and Jacque’s Dance Expressions, all from Yuba City, CA and Barefoot Dance Company of Gridley, CA.  Candee was a part of the founding cast for the Rideout Healthy Kids Team, a performance troupe that offers interactive musical and acting entertainment for Yuba, Sutter and Colusa elementary and middle schools, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.  She was accepted into the National Dance Education Organization, Online Program, working towards a dance teacher certification.  Some of the classes that she has completed include creative movement and lesson planning for early education and pedagogy and body anatomy.

Candee opened Candee's Dance Shoppe in May of 2016 and the studio has produced three summer recitals as well as numerous Christmas performances.  Candee's Dance Shoppe has performed for local area schools, hospitals, and community events.

SIERRA KEEPERS

Hi I’m Sierra! I have been dancing since age 5 and I started my journey at Jacque's Dance Expressions of Yuba City, CA.  I began my studies with jazz but through the years I’ve expanded my dance knowledge and was able to take jazz, tap, modern, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, pre-pointe, pointe, character, improvisation, leaps and turns, student choreography, wellness for dancers, and acro.  I have been so blessed to learn all of these styles from various studios and schools including, Silverton Ballet, Dance Depot, Dreamweaver Dance Theatre, Shasta College, and Western Oregon.  I am so excited to teach for my first time this year.  Thank you and I hope you have fun dancing and enjoy it like I do!

NATALIE AZUARA

My name is Natalie, I'm married and I am a mother of 3- a 5 year old, an 11 year old, and a 17 year old. My husband and I started visiting the intermountain area over 7 years ago and we fell in love with the area, but it took a few years to finally pull the trigger! We love it here and I have since felt a want to contribute to this community, I have always loved gymnastics and thought about how I could make that work, that's when I found Candee and offered my knowledge! I taught gymnastics at a competitive gym in Menlo Park for a few years after Highschool, I taught up to Level III (3) girls ages 7-10, and all ages under! 6 years ago our then 5 year old daughter began gymnastics and then joined the competition team for level III and competed 1 season before our move- I always watched anxiously from the sideline trying to keep the coaching to the coaches. I'm very excited to join Candee and offer a new set of skills for the kids in our area! I'm looking forward to teaching gymnastic skills and focus on tumbling.
